From the Publisher’s Note:
Dr Neil Hamill is an expert in Maharishi Sthapatya Veda and a Vastu architect who has designed buildings internationally. The managing editors of MVRI Press have the honour of presenting his groundbreaking work on Ayadi Sadvarga, the seed form of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda. The book is an advanced interrogation, articulation and technical explanation of Ayadi Sadvarga. Scholars of Maharishi Vedic Science and those with a particular interest in Maharishi Sthapatya Veda and Maharishi Vastu Architecture (MVA) should find the material compelling.
The book is particularly unique and valuable, guided directly by both His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (founder of Maharishi Vedic Science, the Transcendental Meditation and TM–Sidhi program, Maharishi International University and Maharishi Vedic University), and Raj Sthapati, Brahma Shri Kanippayoor Krishnan Namboodiripad (one of the world’s foremost experts in Sthapatya Veda, Dean of Vaastu Vidya Gurukulam, Department of Culture of the Government of Kerala, and, since 1995, Dean of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda at Maharishi Vedic University in the Netherlands.)
According to the Mānāsara, a key text of Sthapatya Veda, Ayadi Sadvarga “represents a set of six formulas with which any particular measurement must conform before it can be accepted [as representative of Natural Law]. Mention of the Sadvarga is found in the Bimbamana and the Agamas”. These six formulas are said to be: Aya, Vyaya, Riksha, Yoni, Vara, and Tithi and/or Amsha.
Working closely with Raj Sthapati, Dr Hamill developed his Model of Ayadi Sadvarga and in this book shows: 1) how the Model works; 2) how the Model is consistent with Maharishi’s Apaurusheya Bhashya; 3) why the Model can be thought of as the ‘Seed Form of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda’; 4) how the principles of Ayadi Sadvarga are expressed in Veda and the Vedic Literature; and 5) with a particular focus on the important Vedic text—the Ramayana.
Dr Hamill’s work on Ayadi Sadvarga, as presented in this book, seeks to align itself with this structure of: pure intelligence > Veda and the Vedic Literature > Maharishi’s Apaurusheya Bhashya > Maharishi Sthapatya Veda (and Maharishi Vastu Architecture) > Maharishi’s Vedic Science. It is a work of both theory and application, specifically seeking to expand, through his proposed Model of Ayadi Sadvarga and its seed form alignment to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, our understanding of the core principles of Maharishi Vastu Architecture.
This ambitious theoretical project makes the work important. As does its possible application to the design and built structures of Maharishi Vastu Architecture, with obvious implications for designers, developers, architects, builders, town planners, and others interested in jointly designing and constructing environments embodying a synergy with cosmic forces and creating healthy, sustainable outcomes in harmony with Natural Law. This, Maharishi maintains, is the “global undertaking to reconstruct the world in harmony with Natural Law” because “everyone should live in a building with an ideal Vastu”.
The book also features 21 detailed colour charts and a large foldout chart of the Model of Ayadi Sadvarga.
