Mere Austin is a Life member of the Maori Women’s Welfare League (MWWL), Justice of the Peace, Tamaki Makaurau Area Representative, Board of Trustee Member for Kura Kappa Maori O Puau Te Moananui a Kiwa, and was National Vice President of the MWWL, National Coordinator (Te Ika a Maui) Global Mother of Divine Aotearoa, Teacher of Transcendental Meditation, Tamaki Makaurau Area Representative, Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit New Year’s Honours List for service for Maori, Ruapotaka Marae Trustee and Ka Mau Te Wero Trustee, and Trustee of Te Mauri Ora Health and Education Trust. She was Researcher for the MWWL and participated in establishing a Kahanga Reo (Maori language nest) built according to Maharishi Vastu Architecture with her husband Herewini Austin.
